Mark has been a fantastic asset to the Workington constituency, and is the right choice for Penrith and Solway. He is one of the stand-outs of the 2019 intake - an asset to the Conservative Party and to his constituents. Not one to hold back, never afraid to speak truth to power and always relentlessly focused on the best interests of his local community.​

Mark is one of the most effective MPs I have seen in parliament. When I was a DLUHC minister I saw his tenacity in pushing to open the West Cumbria Mine, creating over 2000 locals jobs. He is well regarded in parliament which is very important for maintaining a healthy and united parliamentary party and any constituency would be lucky to have such a hard-working and good-humoured representative.

As PCC for the County I work routinely with local Cllrs and MPs. Political affiliations aside I can say that Mark Jenkinson is the most assiduous, persistent and enthusiastic advocate for his constituents. He is never slow to take up their cause to assist and support, I’m convinced that is because they are his people, he knows Cumbria, his family live here and he genuinely cares about the community. He has been supportive in achieving significant investment into the county for both re-generation and to make our streets safer. He is a strong, assertive and effective constituency MP.

As a former Deputy Chief Whip I can attest to Mark’s dogged determination to deliver for his constituents. He learned quickly how parliament works and is respected by colleagues, which explains his swift career progression. Since Mark was elected, we have seen local funding that was previously unheard of, and that continues with his work to upgrade the A595 and A66. His commitment to delivery is second to none.

Mark is a fantastic local advocate, not just for his own constituents but also for those around him. He’s a great champion for nuclear and has not wavered in support for Copelands coal mine, being absolutely focused on the jobs and environmental benefits it will bring.

Whilst Environment Secretary, it was brilliant to have Mark’s support as my Parliamentary Private Secretary. He was an advocate for great ideas across the environmental and conservation agenda – he was a doughty champion for Cumbria in doing so – and, importantly, was committed to deliver in a Conservative way.

Mark has played an instrumental role in the formation of Cumbria Young Conservatives and has continuously supported and encouraged our members from across the county to get involved locally. I thank Mark for all his support; he is an asset to his constituency.

He has made his mark as an MP with roles in DEFRA and the Whips office. Mark is the best choice as our candidate for MP. Mark has proved to be an exceptional colleague in Parliament and also as my neighbouring Cumbrian MP. He is highly respected by Cabinet members and back benchers alike, known for his deep understanding of subjects, high performing debating skills and excellent political antenna. Mark has demonstrated his loyalty and willingness to collaborate whilst working together on West Cumbrian priorities including nuclear missions and Woodhouse Colliery, where his determination and effective lobbying secured brilliant results. Home and away Mark has been a superb champion for his area, campaigning none stop, supportive of colleagues and a dream to work alongside.

I can't praise Mark enough. He recognised that a health issue I was having had Cumbria wide implications and so despite me not being one of his constituents, he didn’t flinch when I asked for help. In addition to that, as an Armed Forces Veteran, I am full of praise for his active support for the veterans of Cumbria. Mark is the constituency MP that every constituency deserves.
